Asus has announced the ExpertBook B3 Detachable, a Snapdragon-powered addition to its premium ExpertBook business line that features a detachable keyboard. The device is available now with a starting price of $599.

The ExpertBook marks a number of hilarious milestones for Asus, including “the first ExpertBook laptop with dual orientation stand”, “the first Windows laptop running on Arm with a parked stylus”, “the first Windows laptop running on ARM with a stylus parked” and “Asus’ first ExpertBook laptop powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2”.

Asus is just the latest company to bring a Surface Pro-like detachable form factor to one of its high-end lineups. Dell converted its XPS 13 2-in-1 to a similar folio-style form factor earlier this year, and major business-oriented ExpertBook competitors, including Dell’s Latitudes and Lenovo’s ThinkPads, now also include Windows PCs. detachable.

For the laptop industry as a whole, the announcement marks a new step away from the traditional 2-in-1 form factor and towards the more portable detachable for work on the go.

What sets the ExpertBook B3 apart from other space detachables is its dual-angle kickstand. Like the CM3 Chromebook that Asus released last year, the ExpertBook’s kickstand can be folded vertically or horizontally, allowing the tablet to stand in either orientation.

The device measures 16:10 and weighs 1.3 pounds, so a little more than the iPad Air. (I assume it’s without the keyboard attached – I’ve emailed Asus to confirm, but haven’t heard yet.) The device has an optional MPP 2.0 stylus and can be configured with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of eMMC. storage in addition to the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 Compute processor. It has two webcams, including a five-megapixel user-facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear shooter, and optional Asus Private View support, which shields the screen from side snoopers.
