Apple has quietly funded a lobby group for app developers

Apple’s CarPlay is still frustratingly basic.

Stephen Hacket at 512 pixels blogged about the frustrations he had migrating to a new iPhone and not retaining his CarPlay preferences, despite copying all the other apps to his phone properly.

I’m with him on that, but I’m more annoyed by the second point he highlights: CarPlay still treats each vehicle you connect to as a different thing. Instead of retaining your preferences when connecting to a different car, it forces you to reconfigure everything for each new vehicle. It’s boring for families with more than one car; it’s downright infuriating for frequent rental car users. Seems like a simple thing to fix!
